In the music industry it is extremely important to have everything you need put together and sold as a package as there is a lot of competition out there and you will never stand out if you don't have a plan. A press kit must include your biography and not boring facts but shout out and pay attention to me stuff. You also need to have a photo that sells you, picture what kind of photo a celebrity would have to sell their concert and do that. Your sound clips must be very good and very clear or else you wont get any work because this is what sells you the most. A video is good also if it is clear because if it isn't don't bother.
To get ahead in the industry think big and work your way from the bottom.

Great advice, which I am sure can be applied to many other walks of life. Everyone can do with this type of information for whatever they are doing.

I'm not, and never was, in the music beat, but I received a press kit once. There was this Venezuelan band  that was visiting my country and they knocked on the newsroom's door when I was the only one working there. They gave me a legit copy of their debut CD, with case, booklet and all, plus a promotional DVD with text, photos and I think a couple of videos. I really wasn't the person to move it around but I listened to the CD and enjoyed it a lot so I decided I'd give the press kit to a more knowledgeable colleague. I didn't, though.

Fast forward a couple of years and the video for one of the songs is rotating on the MTV. I felt relieved because the guilt had been bothering me all that time. What if they never got into the limelight because of my inaction? What if they stopped distributing their press kit because no journalist was paying them attention? Fortunately someone did. Fortunately they had some success and the world got to know such a good band.

That's good as it is so hard for the musicians to get work especially when there are so many of them out there and many of them don't understand the urgency of a press kit.
