Perhaps, the single most important quality a person can have is integrity.  When a person continues to parade before the public eye, they ought to have it.

Carrie Prejean garnered the public spotlight, when during a beauty contest she was asked a question about gay marriage.  I will not be getting into that debate here.  I will say, that had I been a judge, I would have given her a low score for her answer.  Not because of her position on gay rights, but that she totally flubbed in answering, by saying, because we live in America, we can choose that type of marriage.  That is simply wrong.  It showed her lack of knowledge on the subject.  To me, she failed that portion.  There is no choice about it.  Had she answered in an intelligent way, giving a clue that she was, at the very least up on current events, never mind the actual fundamentals of the issue, I would have been the first to defend her answer.  She, as are we all, are entitled to our opinion.

She was paraded before cameras, as a fundamental Christian golden girl, for her stance.  Interview after interview, she simply performed poorly.  The drama continued, with her admission of receiving money for having breast augmentation, after previously denying those allegations. Risque pictures were made public. She was defended by none other than the pageant director himself, Donald Trump.  After missing several engagements she was contracted to by the pageant and acting like a prima donna, she was dethroned.  Through interview after interview again, she claimed it was because of her stance on gay marriage, and that her right to free speech was being quashed by the media.

She began writing a book about her experience.

The limelight surrounding her was waning.  She sued the pageant, demanding one million dollars.  Imagine her shock, as she was shown a copy of a sex video she made.  She immediately settled.  While the details of this settlement are unknown, I’d hazard a guess she got nothing.

Yet, she begins promoting her book, through a series of interviews and speaking engagements.  Again her public speaking skills are lacking.  She had a meltdown on “Larry King Live”, where she threatened to leave, after asked about her legal settlement with the pageant directors.

If you wish to be in the public eye, you can expect some tough questions, considering the drama that has been stirred up through the whole ordeal.  What on earth did she expect?  That all the dirty laundry would simply vanish?  She was either badly advised of the pitfalls that awaited her, or she simply didn’t take the advice.  Either way, a new fool was crowned.

When one claims to be a squeaky clean Christian fundamentalist, then they ought to be able to back that up.  Lying about breast implants, sex tapes, and more lies claiming she was a teenager, when the boyfriend she sent the video to says she was 20, then asking that he lie for you, might have people wondering how true that claim may be.

If one wants public attention, then they better be ready to handle the entire public spotlight, not just the sweet parts.  Sometimes, it’s best not to covet publicity.  It might be much more than you bargained for.

It isn’t about gay rights anymore.

Carrie Prejean has lost her crown.

Worse yet, she lost her integrity.
