A girl I went to high school with committed suicide the night of August 17.
No one really knows why.
I feel bad about what has happened, and I am sad that she thought that suicide was the only way to fix things, but yet, I feel no sorrow for her.
Suicide is the most selfish thing you could ever do to others. Those who are thinking about committing suicide always think of themselves and never think about the devastation they leave behind. She was loved, and those people around her are now crushed.
Yes, I feel sorry for whatever she was going through that made her think suicide was the best option, but life is not always mountain tops. Everyone has bad days, and sometimes life can get almost unbearable, but it's never bad enough to kill yourself.
When things get hard, those are the times we grow. We grow from struggles, and we learn things about life and things about ourselves.
Everyone on Facebook has recently been posting pictures with the girl and have been posting statuses like, "Rest in peace, you're in a better place now," or, "God gained a beautiful angel today." The thing is, no, God didn't gain her as an angel.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 says, "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple." Basically, the verse is saying that if you kill yourself, God has no place for you in Heaven.
Why would He want someone like that in His kingdom, anyway? I can't say how God judges us, but I do know that suicide is not going to be your ticket into the Pearly Gates.
A person who knew this girl posted a tweet on Twitter that said, "Suicide is not chosen; it happens when pain exceeds resources for coping with pain." Really? Last time I checked, no one forces people to commit suicide. Suicide IS a choice, and it is a stupid choice.
Bottom line, if you're ever down, and you feel that suicide may be a good choice, rethink your decision.
God doesn't accept those who commit suicide.
If you ever feel that no one loves you, God does. He is always there. Always. And, so am I. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here. Don't ever feel that you're not good enough.
You are loved.
Write on.
