Do you have any pets?  I have two parakeets that are adorable.  They are like a little married couple.  They kiss and talk to each other and have little spats every now and then.  I got them from a local pet store that I think unfortunately does not have a good breeder for their birds because both of them have little congenital issues and may be kind of inbred. The boy Gustav is missing a claw, so he doesn't have the best grip and the girl Gita can't fly very well because her wing feathers on one side don't fold right so she is off balance and can't get much lift.

We used to have 3 dogs, 3 birds and had to get rid of them when we moved out of our house into a small apartment. It was horrific and I probably wouldnt get any pets again because it is devastating when you have to let them go. Lately birds have been nesting on the balcony in our apartment. It looks so cute and such a blessing to see them with their families everyday. I wont mention the mess that they make!

Yes, that is definitely hard.  I have wanted a cat, but when I really think about it, due to where I live it probably would not be a good idea.  If anything happened to the cat and I wasn't able to pay a huge vet bill, I could end up being in serious trouble if someone decided I was neglecting my animal.  Even if I just gave them up, you never know, someone might try to tarnish my reputation.  There are some really crazy people like that in this town who put animals on so high a level they would seriously expect one to go into debt for a vet bill if needed.

I have an orange tabby that is about 8 years old now. She is a 6 toe kitty and she is such a sweety. I will be sad when she leaves us someday. We got her right before my son was born from a friend who raises nothing by 6 toe cats. It looks like she has mittens and she is a total lap cat :)

I have one cat at present - did have two but the other (who was the mum) just went out one day about a year ago and never came back.

I always had pets - usually cats - when I was growing up but now that I am responsible for them I find it a bit much on top of kids, work and home. Love this one to bits but probably won't replace him when he does go. Maybe something lower maintenance like a hamster - something that won't destroy the furniture, sick up all over the carpet and bring in horrible things from the garden. Mind you, then the kids would have to go as well!

Rosyrain - wow! I have heard of six-toes cats but never of someone breeding them specifically. That's just awesome!

I actually had to cut back on the number of pets we had in this house this year LOL Currently we have 3 cats, a guinea pig and a gerbil, as well as our fish tank that has a frog and a bottom feeder in it. We did have a lot of guinea pigs because they breed like rabbits. I adopted most of them out. Unfortunately, my favorite pet rat also died this year. I told my daughter I can't do it anymore, I'm done with pets. What we have is all we're going to have for quite some time.

Wow. Everybody seems to be a cat person in here--or at least most of you guys. Unlike you guys, I am a dog person. I have five dogs. They're big breeds (a mix of Aspin, labs and goldies), so it's so much fun to run around with them in the yard. It gets a little crazy sometimes, because they have different personalities and my pack has four males and a female. They sometimes fight to prove they're the alpha male, but when they're not fighting, they are really sweet and playful.

That sounds like such a fun household! I love going to homes with dogs everywhere - it's so comforting. My sister has two mutts (pitt, boxer, golden retriever, German shepherd mixes) and they get along most of the time. They have so much energy and it's contagious!

I, myself, have a papillon. ("Papillon" means "butterfly" in French, and the wings of a butterfly accurately describes a papillon's big ears!) He's big for his breed type and trust me, it's all muscle :) I used to be afraid of dogs until a few years before I got my papillon. I'm so glad now I'm over my fear and can enjoy the company of all the wonderful dogs I meet :)

I love animals and wish that we could have them again but living where we live I guess is the price we pay. Apartment living on the beach is fun but to have a home with a garden and a few pets would be fantastic too.

I have two dogs, Sammy and Tam-Tam. Sammy is Tam-Tam's mom. They are very vain. They love to take a bath and clean themselves. They also like to eat tasty food. Yes, we give them some human food, those human food that are okay for dogs and they are choosy. They have some friends in the neighborhood even though they seldom go out. They love playing in the house and quiet most of the time. Since I only live with my mom, it's great to have them as additional company. They keep the house warm and lively.

My sisters dog is so cute and adorable and she has trained it to go to the toilet...well not sit on the toilet but that's where she goes to do her business. She also has dresses and when you ask her where they are she runs to choose one. A little human she is and so cute!!

I've got a Siamese-Ragdoll cross kitty named Scarlet who is about 2 years old, and a long-haired Chihuahua named Haru who is 4. They're both super sweet little animals, and they get along very well! I'm no more of a cat person than I am a dog person, though. I love them both equally.

Here's a couple of pictures of them if anyone would like to see!

When we first got Scarlet she was tiny enough to fit into a small whipped cream container. I used to have a pic of her sleeping inside one but I can't find it anymore. Since then she's grown to be really big! She used to love sleeping on my laptop keyboard and she would fit across it perfectly; she still tries to do so now but half her body flops off the edge, haha. She's a sweet kitty though, and she purrs a lot. I don't think I've ever known a cat who purrs as loudly & as often as she does.

Haru, too, used to be small but has grown to be pretty big for a Chihuahua. He's a little smaller than Scarlet, though. He has the typical yappy traits associated with his breed, and he isn't very friendly to strangers, but he always seems to know when I'm not feeling well and snuggles with me. Just having him around makes me feel a lot better when I'm down.

Wow, I never knew so much went into making a simple post about pets.  Times certainly have changed. I am what I would call a "pet" person in general, loving all creatures that need human care to get by in this world, but for the most part I tend towards cats as well.  Right now I just have the one, Hank, an orange tabby, and as well as being the only pet, he is the only 'man about the house' right now.  And that's all right with me since the last 'man' that was about my house of the human sort was a relationship of five years that has been harder to get rid of than the cat in the song "The Cat Came Back."   At least I think that cat was hard to get rid of, all I can remember of the song is that the person "thought he was a goner, but the cat came back."  Well, I wish the man I'm writing about was a goner, but so far no such luck. Hank on the other hand is a definite keeper but I have been thinking about getting him a friend.  He's two years old, neutered and friendly with the neighborhood cats.  Do you think he would do better with a younger cat or one closer to his own age?  Male or female?  I've been told that males tend to get along better with female cats.  Any suggestions?

I have a rat terrier that thinks he's Cujo. Lol. But he's putty in Mommy's arms!
But I have had many many peys over the years. I've had "normal" pets like birds, dogs, cats, and fish. At one time, I had over 100 Betas, all in separate glass containets from the floral department at Wal-Mart, or they'd have fought each other. I've also has rabbits, guinea pigs, a duck, a squirrel, newts, frogs, lizards, ferrets, rats (my favourite one was a hairless rat I named Saggy because her skin fell around her like Saggy Baggy Elephant from the Golden Books), and mice. I'm a HUGE animal lover (if you can't tell..lol).
