Dear Guest,
I know you're bursting with ideas, comments, suggestions, complaints, and so much more regarding Creative Burrow. Maybe you're afraid to tell us, or afraid to let us know how you feel in case someone disagrees or you somehow make yourself look silly?

Well don't be afraid! Reply right here to this post and tell us right now what you're thinking, how you feel about our site. Give us your ideas to improve ourselves. Give us your complaints so we can see things that may not be working. Let us know what you're yearning for. What we're missing! Give us your feedback!!

Love,
Bunny and The Creative Burrow Team

P.S. Yes, I am magic.

My only complaint would be that there aren't enough people here. Unfortunately, this is a common problem with forums in general. The good news is, it seems that you have a steady string of regulars and new members coming on regularly.

I wish I had more ideas for you in order to improve this particular area, too, but I don't. :(

Thanks!

Creativity, happiness, inspiration - all come from contact and discussion. A good community provides the answers, and answers the need.

I see many years worth of messages worth browsing through, and many interesting threads. Maybe the original posters are no longer active, maybe they'll come back, maybe they won't, but for the time being I'm looking through the accumulated contributions, and I'm a happy bunny.

Hey Pete! Maybe bump some of the more interesting ones with a reply. Some of the old members might get a notification or two, or it could spark up some new conversation! :D

Also QuirkyJessi: the best way is answering everything I post in the community development board in the staff area. I come up with ideas and no one tells me if they're good or bad or need improvement lol.

Thanks, Bunny!

Maybe in a little while - it's evening here in Canberra and bed calls. Want to get some reading done instead of sitting at my computer all day!

But, yes, shall bump a few likely threads. Not just now, but.

Bunny........ You are seriously MAGIC ! !  I just found this, just read it. Just joined here about a month ago.
You wrote this to me in FEBRUARY ! !  So how did you do this ??
I guess, since other people have answered it; that maybe somehow, whoever opens the message, it puts their name in the title ??
Or you wrote it to me one of the times when i was here browsing the forum as a guest before joining ?
Or....... You are just plain magic.

So, anyway; I am going to attempt to answer the questions you asked me.
I love the Creative Burrow !  I have had great answers to questions that i have asked here, and the encouragement that i have received has started me on the road to actually DOiNG something about writing, and not just telling myself stories in my mind that never go anywhere.
Since I joined here, I have started writing online, and looking for other places that beginners can write simple articles and stories, and make a little money while doing that.
I have also (jumped off the cliff) started a blog, so I can write down stories about our family history and put them where my Grandchildren can read them. I am still finding my way around the blog; but, as always, youtube video tutorials are invaluable.
As for what  I would change..... well, just one thing comes to mind right away. I like to be able to add pictures to my posts sometimes; and I don't have pictures anywhere except on my computer. I would like one of those simple picture uploaders, where it just says "upload a file", and you put it right on from your computer.

I am still finding out where things are at yet; but it is getting there. Thanks for letting me be a part of your wonderful forum, Bunny ! !

Aww thank you! I love that we've helped you so much, that's been my goal this whole time :D.

As for pictures...unfortunately we don't have the funding to get a bigger web space...so you have to upload them elsewhere. Tinypic is what I use. It's simple, and you sign up and can upload 5 at a time and it even gives you the code for your post so you don't even have to click the image button ;). It also has no viewing limits, and doesn't delete files if you're a free member. Never been emailed by them either so they're really good. Photobucket and imageshack delete and have limits so they're no good.

I would love to allow people to upload avatars and pictures, music, and maybe even video but we don't even get enough funding to cover the hosting now :/. When we do though people will be able to upload their word docs and we'll have the ability to display them right here in the posts :D.

I just got here and I like the website a lot ... I could be here the whole day just reading and writing. The thing I have noticed is that the Lastest Commented Topics thingy, at the top of the web is kind of slow (at least for me), maybe I am too impatient lol ...

But Overall I believe the site its very colorful (which I love), very interesting and Fun.

Ohh Forgot something--- maybe update the Format and emoticons option so that is easier to use and more colorful emoticons...

Peace !

I love this forum, and the people here are so inspiring! I've learned so much from just the short space of time I've been here, and I don't know how I didn't come across this forum before.  I'd love to see more people bunny-hopping along to join us, and get even more creative juices flowing in the community.

Maybe we could have a thread where someone starts off with a line of text they've made up, for example, "Nobody knew that Charlotte was behind the whole incident surrounding the missing wheelbarrow".   We could keep adding to it, watch it grow and see were it goes?  It might turn into a good story which we could put up on the site to read for free.  Maybe it would attract a few more people to sign up and get involved?

Just a feeble suggestion  :P ;)

Hey Kitty we actually do have an area with that sort of thing in it!

http://www.creativeburrow.org/games/

Stories:
http://www.creativeburrow.org/games/the-never-ending-story/
http://www.creativeburrow.org/games/the-never-ending-love-story/
http://www.creativeburrow.org/games/the-never-ending-horror-story/
http://www.creativeburrow.org/games/the-never-ending-erotic-comedy/

We could definitely use more people ;)

LoveMarie I will definitely look into the ticker, you're not the first to say it's too slow.

As for the smileys I made these....and I can't see myself colouring them any time soon. They are extremely fiddly!

Can you elaborate on the formatting? You can turn on WYSIWYG in your profile or by clicking which is the second last icon in the panel.

Thanks for your feedback guys! :D

I have made some changes...
1. Made the ticker twice the speed (ish)
2. Made the badges visible in replies
3. Made avatars fullsized in replies
4. Made the date line (and post anchor) hidden (press the down arrow to the right of posts to show)

Hopefully this is all good! :D

Ooohhh! I probably never would've clicked that button, lol. I would've assumed it would do something like take you to the bottom of the page...or maybe a "downvote" if I weren't aware of the thumbs up/down icons below.

It's working for me. Well, at least to the extent of showing the time/date. What are the other buttons supposed to be?

Mostly moderation buttons like delete post, split from topic, approve message, unapprove message, and issue a warning. I am hoping to also have the IP address in there because we don't need to see that really.

I am happy to know about that little function with the down button, too. I like being able to see when a post was written, and all I could ever find was when the opening post was written.
the first time I tried the down arrow, it said something like open page or save something, so I thought that was what it did.
I am always afraid to use a button when I don't know what it does, for fear it will do something that I can't stop or fix, or whatever.
I wish that the time of the post showed up right in the post, but at least now I know how to find it, and that it CAN be found.

I love everything about creative burrow. Finally a place for writers. A place where people understand exactly what I'm talking. I have no complaints whatsoever, I just want the site to continue to grow, so we can all learn from each other with healthy debates, struggles, fears and happiness.

Hi all! I read my own username in the post and it scared me a little ;) but it's a cool function, I guess.

I also like to be able to see the date stamp of all posts without having to click a button, and also the date stamps in the thread lists and other pages (such as unreplied topics). That would make it easier to make sense of how recent is each one (the scrolling ticker at the top is supercool, though).

Also, this thing with the username variable made me wish every post included a "source" button, like in reddit, so that one can quickly learn by example how to format the text and do cool things.

You can, just click quote :).

Time is irrelevant for the most part, we don't frown on replying to old posts unless they're feedback or announcements lol. But the timestamps will be back soon enough :D.

There is one, click the typeface drop down LOL. Some browsers even show you how they look, or they did.

Also there's a list of ALL of them, even the unlisted ones, here.

Hi Bunny! To be perfectly honest, this is probably the first time I've ever decided to play the active participant in forums like this. I used to lurk in a lot of fan fiction and creative writing communities (especially back in the Livejournal days), but aside from the occasional "this is awesome, I can't wait to see more!" comment, I really didn't say much.

That being said, this place seems really nice and welcoming, and I really appreciate that there's a space where folks dedicated to creative pursuits can help one another hone their crafts. Also, I love the fact that you have a gallery of pre-set icons available. Some people (myself included) aren't terribly good at making icons, so having some already at our fingertips is a relief!

My only issue, I guess, is that the coding below the body area of the pages might be a bit broken. This could also be a browser compatibility issue (I'm currently using the latest version of Google Chrome). When I mouse over the box underneath this space (right now, it's marked "Additional Options," but in threads, it's the "Quick Reply" box) nothing happens. No links pop out, no menus makes themselves available, no text box allows me to type in a search field, etc.  I'd suggest looking into it and seeing what needs to get fixed. :)

It's there to help you guys be creative so go crazy ha ha :D.

Thank you so much for your kind words, that's exactly what I was aiming for!! :D

As for the issues with the links...Do you have javascript turned on? It's working fine for me on the latest Chrome but I will look into it. Under Additional Options it should give you checkboxes for being notified of replies or returning to the topic on reply (both checked) and an option to not use smileys (default unchecked).

Does this happen with replies AND new topics or only one? Is it specifically the buttons or the sections wont expand to show their contents?

I love the site the way it is. It is simple and homely. I feel comfortable here. I am the type of person that would rather be in a beach cottage than a mansion. The site is perfect and you will add improvements as time goes by and you decide on them.

I don't know if you want to consider adding 'Addthis' . (Sharing button) You can get the free one which has a long list of social bookmarks to share our work with, if we choose to. This may bring more traffic to the site.

Besides this, don't change a thing.

Hey Bunny, here's a little feedback for you! :)
Now, keep in mind that this post is entirely my own opinion and personal tastes; don't take it as it being intended to tell you that this is what everyone thinks when they visit your site. :P Things that I find difficult might make perfect sense to everyone else. I just thought I'd share my own feedback & experiences so far!

The site itself is great, and very unique in the way it is put together. The biggest thing for me was that at first glance, I found it a little bit hard to navigate. It took a bit of staring at the page to figure out that the different burrows with sections with "journalism and reviews", "musicburrow", etc were the equivalent to sections & sub-sections within a standard forum layout. That's probably just my own mind not working properly, though (I have some issues with my mental health that make it hard for me to comprehend things that I haven't seen before at first). Now that I've gotten used to the layout & understand it, it all makes sense to me.

Overall I find that the forum has a different feel to it then other forums, which sets it apart from others and makes it feel like a fun, new experience. It has a cozy sort of atmosphere too which makes me feel at home even though I've only just joined. I also really love the rabbit burrow theme - such a cute idea!

You've done a great job here, Bunny. Keep it up!!

Hey I like feedback good or bad!

I have an intro video that might help you out:

Also if you want to see how it looks "as a forum" try this:
http://www.creativeburrow.org/?theme=1

When you're done with that horror click here:
http://www.creativeburrow.org/?theme=8

The only difference is that the boards are icons instead of text, that's all. The WritingBurrow, CreativeWritingBurrow, and ArtWarren are all for your own works, the rest is chat, help, workshops, games, and freelancing/employment stuff :).

Does that help any? :)

Yes yes :D

I think I sound a bit international cause I grew up in Australia, then America and then came back here to Aus...when I was doing internet radio people would say they didn't know what I sounded like and dubbed me "international". So now I say I have an "international accent" ha ha.

I LOVE IT.

I hear it as a mix between American and British. It's very pleasant and relaxing.
I can't see myself arguing with someone who speaks with that accent. ;)

About Bunny
Jade Elizabeth is an eccentric young woman who enjoys writing stories and poems with hidden deeper meanings. She is quoted saying “Writing to me is not a hobby. It's a passion. It's something that lets my thoughts expose themselves, and my heart shine through where other art could not.

Commonly her poems are inspired by love or depression, and are dedicated to the people who encouraged the emotion. Given the chance she will readily pull her poems apart, exposing the deeper and hidden meanings behind her words.

Her stories are usually unspoken messages to those close to her – giving every story a hidden meaning. Some things are better left unsaid, or in her case, expressed indirectly through stories.

Jade used to write Documentation for Simple Machines in her free time, but has since begun studying and working, which takes up most of her free time now.
