I am wanting to get into writing. Writing was something I was studying , but dropped out of the University degree, many years ago. I am many years down the track with no experience, no portfolio and likely no discernable skill. But these things I am sure I can overcome.

I am interested in just listening to everyone here and perhaps chipping in occasionally when I have something ground breaking, which I rather think may not be THAT often. But seriously, I will not post a great deal, but will remain active.

You should definitely chime in because you never know when your response could really help someone or inspire someone to come up with a helpful idea!

I am wondering how to start a portfolio and wondering if I ought to consider the content mills as an apprenticeship of sorts for getting there. Make or break me.

We have a portfolio here actually, all your work gets put in there automatically. Unfortunately it's very broken at the moment but it does list everything.

It's SUPPOSED to list each work in its respective category (stories listed under stories, poems in poetry,  articles in articles, etc) but someone broke it extremely bad and it only lists them all under "portfolio" (which is awful lol). I am working on it but we need more funding to find someone to help cause it's out of my skillset .

I am sorry it is something I simply have no idea about. I really want to hit those revenue sharing website/blogs but I am scared senseless that I will have to be clever and technical and put in tags and links and format stuff and pretty it up in order for it to be functional.

Hellooo !!! All ... Well I think It will not hurt anyone to try !  I have been thinking about starting writing a book. Now I have never done professional writing, so I guess I will start by reading some guidelines and fixed all the writing I have already done.

Ok, I picked the websites
I picked Hub Pages. I will post on there. I will then transplant that information to post an Article and to Wikinut a month after I post the original article. I will then go back and revise and rewrite the subject matter and post it at Infobarrel.
In the mean time I have two content mills Iwriter and writelearnearn that I have applied to, that I may send some stuff as well.
I will consider it practice and an unofficial internship until I improve my writing. I have not had to really write for about 20 years.
