According to lots of media news articles around the internet and on news stations across the US, there has been lots of controversy about the young girl that plays Hip Girl and her  language. Miss Chloe Grace Moretz definitely rose some eyebrows when she said things such as “I’m just fucking with you, Daddy!” and “You’re just a little cunt, aren’t ya?” in the new movie, Kick Ass, but is she as immature and innocent as people seem to think?

In the movie, she seriously kicks ass. Even though you get the idea that she’s not the main character, you always want to see more of her, and when you do, she gives you even more than what you expected from her, making her even more hardcore. She has to be my favorite character in Kick Ass. Not just because she’s a girl, but she’s an 11 year old with a mouth that isn’t censored, and an attitude everyone wishes they had!

Plus, the heart-wrenching storyline (in the end, anyway) reminds you that she is still a little girl that loves her Daddy and only wants to make him proud. Yea, she cusses in the movie, but she still has a 9 o’ clock bed time just like any other 11 (now 13) year old girl.

I havent seen the movie yet, but this article makes me want to see it more. I have to wonder how you can expect a movie called "kick ass" not to have swearing in it....even from the younger actors.

Thanks for the compliment! I was thinking exactly the same thing when I wrote this!

It's Hit Girl, actually.  Not Hip Girl.

I'm not concerned about it.  Cursing is a silly social construct that doesn't even carry from one culture to another perfectly.  There's absolutely no difference between saying 'fuck' and censoring yourself by saying 'fudge,' as you're still putting the same meaning into it, just using a random word that sounds similar.  Saying 'shit' is obscene but 'crap' or 'poop' aren't as curses is fucking silly.

Every society's curse words are dictated by what they find most taboo; Jamaican patoise, for example, refers to human filth (bum clot [toilet paper], rass clot [tampon]).  It's sort of disturbing that the most taboo word in America is one for sexual intercourse.

But FUCK has more of a negative connotation than FUDGE.

Yes, I just explained why that is.

Yes, I just explained why that is.

And what you just explained also says a lot about your character and how you present yourself around here.

I watched this movie, and Chloe did a great job of acting in this movie. However, the scenes where this little girl were cussing like a sailor WERE disturbing. The movie's creators were obviously going for the shock factor. You knew there had to be an outrageous reason not only for her to cuss like that, but for her father to allow her to cuss like that. Those words just don't sound right coming out of a little girl's mouth. The movie was a fun watch. :)

I just LOVE Kick Ass and Kick Ass 2! I think Chloe Grace Moretz's character was the best in both movies. She made for one little badass I wouldn't want to...hah...fuck with!  :D  Miss Chloe is definitely making a name for herself in the movie world and doing a hell of a job.

As for the whole cussing issue, well, people need to get over it. Words like shit, piss, fuck, damn, cunt and any variations thereof are merely words. They aren't good or bad words...they are simple sounds we have given meaning to and nothing more. If this society wasn't so steep in religious nonsense then kids "cussing" in movies in and tv shows wouldn't even be an issue or raise an eyebrow.  ;)

I have not seen the movie. But, from the sounds of the dialogue it seems like a bit much. I will have to check it out to really make a judgement on it.
