Firstly I know this movie is supposed to be a kids show, and I watched it with my little brother who's 8....and usually I like the kids movies but this one leaves a LOT to be desired. I didnt like it a bit.

Basically it's about a boy who's supposed to go on a quest to find his grandfather and his rubies in a secret land of invisible people to save his grandparents house:

Arthur is a spirited ten-year old whose parents are away looking for work, whose eccentric grandfather has been missing for several years, and who lives with his grandmother in a country house that, in two days, will be repossessed, torn down, and turned into a block of flats unless Arthur's grandfather returns to sign some papers and pay off the family debt. Arthur discovers that the key to success lies in his own descent into the land of the Minimoys, creatures no larger than a tooth, whom his grandfather helped relocate to their garden. Somewhere among them is hidden a pile of rubies, too. Can Arthur be of stout heart and save the day? Romance beckons as well, and a villain lurks. Written by <jhailey@hotmail.com>

The first thing that irked me was the tap. The kid makes an irrigation system and it shows him with the dog watching it work. However, he's suddenly called away and runs inside with no hint of the tap being turned off. I'm sitting there waiting for a massive flood, green people to start a picketline, him to be grounded for life, anything to happen, but guess what happens? NOTHING HAPPENS. I sat there for 10 minutes waiting for something to happen or him to get into trouble but it's like it was forgotten. Then there's "running water" sounds in the night and the boy says "I thought you were in the shower" and I'm SURE something will happen with this tap, but nothing does. It's magically turned off or what ever.

Anyway the kid gets to the land of the invisible people and it's all downhill from there. He pulls a magical sword from a stone (didnt see that coming :grumpy:) and goes on a quest with the princess and her brother. He likes the princess and there's a whole pseudo romance going on there, but it's only about looks so we can teach our kids to look on the outside more.

Anyway the film feels like it's too fast paced. It's not the usual fast paced like Date Night, it's fast paced like it's got segments cut out and it's been roughly put back together....and then the end just happens. It's like BAM END THANKS VERY MUCH BYE.

All in all I hated it. I've no doubt the book was infinitely better.
