So the first time I was taught to knit I thought a scarf was a bit boring. So I made a horse. On my own. Without a pattern. I made all the bits and sewed them together crappily. Mum had stuffing and "Flare" was born ha ha. I still have her somewhere too.

You did that without a pattern? Cool! It looks to me like a dragon, or the Ponyta pokémon. In Japan there's this whole genre(? Sub-craft? Sub-category or a craft?) of knitting 3D stuffed animals called "amigurumi".

Omg that's awesome! I will have to look into that!

It does remind me of Ponyta/Rapidash too ha ha. The only wool I had was red and yellow ha ha.

I almost said "Picture or it doesn't count!" And there you show up with a picture.

It's super cute! I like how fluffy it looks :) Now I wish I had the capability to knit  :'(

It is actually the easiest thing ever. I do it without realising. I don't know how many times I've stabbed myself trying to move while knitting.

That said, that's why I can't knit to patterns. I lose count of rows. I zone out. I don't even know I'm knitting. >_>

I think that Flare kind of looks like a dragon, too, Bunny ! !  She is cute, and must have been an interesting first project, as well.
I love to knit and crochet, and that is kind of my wintertime hobby. I only make small projects, like slippers, socks, and small throw rugs.
The throw rugs, I usually crochet without using a pattern, and often have to pull a row or more back out to keep the rug from rippling.
I make the throw rugs out of "plarn", which is yarn made from the plastic grocery store bags. I cut it into loops, and hook the loops together, and then use it with a skein of colored yarn to give the rugs a nice color. It knits really easily, and I can throw the rugs right into the washer and dryer to clean them.

That is pretty amazing for not having a pattern or very much experience.  I have a fair amount of knitting experience and I don't know if I could pull that off.  Have you made any other cool knitted items?

Bunny, crocheting is actually pretty easy to do. There should be some good tutorials on youtube; The basic adea is that you are going to make a chain of loops and then make more loops in those loops. Start with just making a row of chains, and then put your  crochet hook in the middle of each chain loop and pull up a loop, then you hook your yarn through the end of your hook and pull it through the loops.

It probably sounds confusing when I am explaining it, but once you start doing it, you will find it is pretty simple. At first, I tried to hold the yarn too tight, and then I couldn't get the hook to fit through the loops, and got really ticked at it !  Once I started making the chains and loops a little looser, then things went smoother.
The first thing I made (slippers, I think) was huge !
I probably ended up pulling it apart and making it again. But it did help me to get the rythym of crocheting.  If you  start with a scarf, or something that precise size is not necessary, then you  can use whatever you make even if it comes out the wrong size.
As you crochet more, you will become more adept at getting the crochet hook through the loops, and your stitches will be tighter.
Use 4-ply yarn to start, not crochet thread, or baby yarn. The loops are too tiny, and you will end up throwing the whole thing in the corner, and saying "Never Again ! "

Crocheting isn't difficult at all. Just like anything it takes some practice and patience. I was taught recently by a friend, and the result? A baby dragon was born! I love your horse. What a great project! I'm sure it was a lot of fun.

That's awesome! In my case, my first Amigurumi (crochet) is a potato. I also did it without the pattern but it's a lot easier than a horse. I supposed to give it to my co-worker as Christmas gift but I when I looked at it, I thought maybe I would appreciate it more than her since the color was not potato-brown. So, I kept it and even gave it a name, Pot-Pot. Next time, I hope to make pig-bunny.

That's fantastic!! How great to be able to make something so complicated without a pattern, that is art some people have the gift and others don't.
I am making a scarf which I have been trying to do for the past year!

About Bunny
Jade Elizabeth is an eccentric young woman who enjoys writing stories and poems with hidden deeper meanings. She is quoted saying “Writing to me is not a hobby. It's a passion. It's something that lets my thoughts expose themselves, and my heart shine through where other art could not.

Commonly her poems are inspired by love or depression, and are dedicated to the people who encouraged the emotion. Given the chance she will readily pull her poems apart, exposing the deeper and hidden meanings behind her words.

Her stories are usually unspoken messages to those close to her – giving every story a hidden meaning. Some things are better left unsaid, or in her case, expressed indirectly through stories.

Jade used to write Documentation for Simple Machines in her free time, but has since begun studying and working, which takes up most of her free time now.
