She wants to leave this place,
these three and a half white walls
that push into her space and steal her air.

Her daydream is somewhere outside the city
where she can run through an ocean of wildflowers
and fall to the ground when her breath is gone.

Alone, she can throw off her clothes to feel the sun
caress skin lightly glossed in morning dew
and brush each blade of grass that scratches her.

She can gaze into a cloudless sky,
one that is so completely clear
she can float in the liquid blueness.

And, in the stillness, she can listen to the music
that starts with the wind humming
and ends with the rustling of leaves.

If she manages to make her daydream come true,
she can forget the harsh neon lights that hang overhead
and the annoying flickering of her computer screen.

She wants to leave this place,
this prison of an office,
and go tumbling, headlong, into nature.

This is absolutely beautiful. You've captured exactly how I feel most days and even more perfectly, how I'd like to feel every day. Just beautiful. You have a real gift.

I like your poem. You are very poetic. I can imagine you being in an office and hoping to be in another place. Sometimes, it is really good to be thinking you are some place else. By doing that, you are relaxing your mind. From your poem, I can sense that you are an adventurous type of person. Your poem indeed makes me want to have an escapade by dreaming.

This piece is a lovely distraction for anyone wishing they were in nature, away from harsh urban realities. With each line that passes, the reader wants more and more to grab the office swivel chair and slide it decisively through the doors, outside the office building. A lovely daydream, indeed, is what most could use. Daydreams seem to provide the fuel to endure the rest of the day. A lofty mind is the REM cycle of afternoon afterthoughts.

I LOVE THIS. I don't even work in an office, but I can totally relate!!! When I read "neon lights" and "computer screen"  my mind instantly went to like dystopian future hacker girl wanting to escape Hahaha, but that's just me :3 but then I was like OH THIS IS REAL LIFE YESS.

Fantastic job!
