I was not sure where to put this, but since I usually post on here at least every day or two, if not every day; I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be out of commission for most of the next week.
I have a heart operation in the morning, and will be in the ICU for a couple of days, and then into a regular room.
If all goes well, I should be coming home on  Sunday, and then recovering at home.

Hopefully, by then, I will be doing well enough to do some posting, but it might take longer.
They are going to fix the electrical impulses in my heart, and it is supposed to help the heart fibrillations, and maybe stop them as the heart heals.

It is a scary operation for me, but my heart function is down from 40% to now around 23%, so if they can even get me back up to the 40% again , I will be doing a lot better.
They said it will still take 3-6 months for the heart to heal, but they think that I should be able to breathe somewhat better fairly soon after the procedures.

If you are a praying person, please keep me in your prayers, and I will let everyone know how I am doing as soon as I am able to.

Oh my goodness, you will be in my prayers everyday!  I hope that your surgery goes very well and that you get healthy and well very soon.  I am reaching out to give you a virtual hug right now!

Heart surgery is one of the scariest I could think of as the doctors are messing with your ticker, but I hope that they make yours better so that you can live a wonderful healthy life.  I will miss you while you are away.  I always look forward to talking with you on here, my friend.  Take care of yourself and get some rest so that you may have a speedy recovery.  I look forward to chatting with you about writing when you are well again.

You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Thank you all for all of the prayers and well wishes. I am still really swollen and sore, bruised all over. But here is the good part !  My heart is in a normal rhythm for the first time in well over 10 years. That is SO wonderful, and even as sore as I am,  I can already breathe better. They said it is helping the heart failure as well as the a-fib; so it is worth going through all of this.
It will take 3-6 months to heal completely, but then I should be able to do a lot more than I could do before.  Still having a pretty fuzzy head, but will post as I am able.
Hugs to everyone ! !

It is so good to be back, and I am feeling better every day now. I have been up walking around, and yesterday even was on the Gazelle (exercise glider) for a very short time. Most of the soreness is gone except right around the heart.
I can't say how much it means to me to have the Burrow show me so much love and support.... Thank you, and HUGS to everyone..... and especially BIG HUG for Bunny ! !

It has been almost 3 months since the heart procedure, and I just wanted to share all of the great news about how succesful that it turned out to be !

When I went in for the operation, my heart had been functioning at about 23%EF for the last year or so, and was gradually getting worse, and less and less that I could do. I have congestive heart failure and complicated by atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat).
Now, in less than 3 months, my heart has been in a regular rythym for the first time in almost 15 years, and the heart failure is actually going away ! My heart is now functioning at about 40%Ef, which is almost normal. (normal is around 45-50% EF).
I am able to breathe so much better, walking more, doing more things again, and regaining my muscle tone and stamina bit by bit. By next spring, I am hoping to be able to get a bike to ride again.

I have been following the Paleo eating plan, which eliminates inflammatory foods, and focuses on the anti-inflammatory ones; which I know is part of why I am healing so well and so fast.

My doctor was so happy that he was almost bouncing around the office on my last visit !
This is a fairly new type of heart procedure, and it takes two doctors to do it, and these are the only ones here that are trained to do it , so I am sure that he is really pleased with how well it turned out, especially considering how bad I was at first, how long I had had the heart failure, and also my age (turning 70 in about two months).

Happyflowerlady, I'm so glad you are healing and feeling the difference. I'm sure your other half is taking good care of you too.

Good health is not something to be taken for granted and you are sensible by taking your time to heal slowly and your new diet seems to be helping you physically too. Are you creating more dishes around what foods are beneficial to you? I know when you have to adapt your diet it can be shock, but also exciting at the same time as you can try new foods and ways of cooking them.

Rest well!

That is very good news Happy and I too thought you would be gone for a while again. I always look forward to talking to you on here. I am so happy that you are feeling better and reaping the rewards of better health. As Alvin said health is not something to take for granted and we should all be thankful for each day that we are able to experience all of the blessings of life.

Maybe I should have started a new thread; but since this one already had all of the background information in it, it just seemed better to add the new post on with this thread. Didn't mean to shock either of you, Bunny and Rosyrain..... sorry !

I was in a terrible car wreck back in 1991 that should have definitely killed me, and I think that is probably what led to the heart fibrillations. I was on the I-5 freeway between Seattle and Tacoma, headed back home late at night, and driving a little Yugo (kind of like one of those little Ford Fiestas), and got rear-ended by a drunk driver in a full-sized pickup truck   who was driving well over 100mph when he hit me.
The impact of the smash locked the pictup onto my back bumper, and at a crooked angle, so I had no way to steer my little car, and it jusst pushed both of us over the steep bank at the side of the road.
At that point, I knew I was going to die, and my life was over. We rolled end over end, and then side to side, landing upside down, with the pickup on top of the car.
My ex-husband and I were smashed inside; but truck drivers who saw the accident came and pulled us out of the car. Amazingly, neither of us was badly hurt, and we actually walked back up the imbankment to the road.
Since then, I have felt like every day is a blessiing that should not have existed; and I do my best to be grateful for it.

Oh my goodness, sounds like you got very lucky that you survived that. It always shocks me when I see a completely totaled vehicle and find out that the driver got out with merely a little scratch. We should thank auto manufacturers for designing cars in a way that keep us all safe in a collision.

Each moment of life really should be viewed as a blessing because you never know when it will be taken away from you.
