The other day I sent my application for a Goodreads author profile. I had just entered the data for one of my books, and surely the system noticed that my name was the same as the author's, because only then I received the suggestion, and I honestly didn't know that authors could have different profiles from the rest of the users in Goodreads.

My application has been confirmed today. I think they emailed my last publisher (I had to put their email in the application form) and verified that I am who I claim to be. :)

Now I'll have to see what to do with this thing, of course. It's always good to have a profile, but I don't know how I will use it, exactly.

Have you seen any author profiles in Goodreads? Do you have one, perhaps? What do you think I should do with it?

I'd probably use the same profile I use in my books, or use here even.

I've never really looked through there but it could be a great way for people to find more books by you! :D

Congrats on it!!!

There is nothing to congratulate me on, really. It's an automated thing they do with everyone who's had books registered. ;)

I've been digging into it and everything is disorganized and cumbersome. But at least I could set up my blog to be auto-populated with the posts in my main blog so there will be content. I plan to write some Goodreads-exclusive posts as well.

I have one and you can link it to your normal profile and switches it over. Basically it gives you an author bio where you list your blog and automatically updates posts.

You can also use it as a link on your websites as many social media buttons do include goodreads and have widgets available.

It's good for potential agents and publishers to look at to see you have a page and secured a name. You can also set up author giveaways, but only if you have a physical book, which is a good way of marketing a new book.

That's good info. Honestly, I've been too busy to get into it, and I've even had technical problems with my main blog, so I haven't experimented with it yet. But I will. :)
