Disabilities, conditions, and handicaps are a part of everyday life. People can have one without it being visible, making people who don't know judge harshly. Does your character have any handicaps, conditions, or disabilities?

How did they come to be?

How do they affect your character?

How does your character feel about their disability?

How does your character feel about others, who may not have a disability?

How do strangers treat your character?

Does your character try to hide their disability or do they flaunt it? Are they able to do either?

I am thinking about making the main character of a story line I've been working on deaf/hard of hearing. Being deaf/hard of hearing is something I know something about and there seems to be no real main characters who are heroes that have some sort of physical problem that make them have to adapt to a hearing world to survive.
