When I was doing my University course, I found that I would do almost anything to avoid the things that I needed to do. But that meant that when it came to final deadlines, I would struggle to get the work in on time, and that would cause me a lot of stress. For that reason, after the most stressful assignment ever, I decided that I would not procrastinate anymore, and that I would do things as and when they needed to be done.
I have found that my life has been much better since I have made this decision. Firstly, it means that when I have finished my work for the day, I can enjoy the things that I am doing a lot more. If I did the things that I enjoyed first, then there is a high chance that the things that I was supposed to be doing would be on my mind instead, and that means that I wouldn't enjoy them as much.
I also find that it helps to have goals that you're working towards. If you're a student then that goal is easy: passing your exams and gaining a good qualification. That's a great thing to work towards, and if you don't have the motivation to succeed then perhaps you shouldn't be on the course at all. If you're an adult, and you're getting things done, then you need to think about the future, and about what could be better if you did everything that you were supposed to. For example, I am saving up for a house at the moment, and I have found that thinking about this is enough to keep me motivated while I am working. I am a freelancer, so I don't have anybody telling me what to do, meaning that I have to do it on my own. I am much better than I used to be.
