Hydrogen peroxide is an amazing compound !  The symbol for it is H2O2, and basically, hydrogen peroxide is water with an extra atom of oxygen.
Plants love it, and many people add a little dab of peroxide to the water that they use for their houseplants.
Hydrogen Paroxide also has many health benefits, since it adds oxygen to the body, and kills many harmful bacteria and yeast overgrowths. However, because it is so inexpensive, and no one can get a patent on it, very little official medical research has been done for the healing properties of peroxide.
I personally use it, not only for the usual problem of cleaning out a wound and disinfecting it, but I also put ssome in my ears whenever i feel like I might be catching a cold, or getting sick. I have read that most infections start out in the ears, and if you use the peroxide right away, you can often stop the infection before it spreads. You can always tell if the ear has an infection, because the peroxide will bubble as it kills the bacteria.
I also use it to clean out my nose and sinuses. I put it in an empty nasal spray bottle  (which also works perfectly for putting the drops in your ears), and then just spray it into my nose while inhaling.
This stuff will make your nose explode as it kills the bacteria in the nose and sinus, and it usually makes me sneeze. I hold it in as long as I can, so that it has time to loosen up all the junk in the nose and sinus cavities, and then blow my nose.  I usually do this twice a day (or more if bad) and it will clear up that stuffed-up feeling, and help you to breathe again.
Here is a great short article that explains even more of the benefits of hydrogen peroxide.

Great information.  I wish I would have read this before I came down with the flu this week.  It was the worst I have felt in years.  I was bed ridden for 2 days and it took another 2 days for me to actually feel normal again!  I have used peroxide to clean out wounds for years, but never knew that you could put it in your ears to kill off potential illness.  Peroxide is very cheap and is a good solution to have in your house for sure!

Well, Rosyrain, maybe my subconscious knew that you needed it, but I just didn't get it posted fast enough, suppose ?
I am glad that you are feeling better, but if the flu is not completely gone, you can still try putting some in your ears and see if it fizzes. Sometimes, one ear will fizz, and the other ear is fine; so be sure to try both ears.

You can substitute peroxide for a lot of the things we use bleach to disinfect, and it is a lot safer, and better for the environment.

I always have a regular bottle, a spray bottle, and the little nose spray thing. (I guess I am a peroxide fanatic....)

After reading your post, I put some in my ears and there was very little fizzle.  I then put some in my nose and there was a lot of fizzle after that.  Shockingly my sinuses have drained and I can once again breathe!  My son is now a little sick and so I am going to do it in his ears...if he will let me!

I am SO glad that the peroxide helped you. It will definitely fizzle your nose! !  But , like you said, then you can breathe better afterwards.
As it starts to clean out the infection in your sinuses, it will just keep on working further up inside, until it gets all of the infection, which may take a few days.
I usually did it at least twice a day, more when the nose was seriously bad.

I used to put peroxide in my kid's ears, and they always kind of liked to hear it fizzling; so hopefully, you won't have a problem with your son either.
