I'm on the fence about this mainly because there are big points on each side of this debate that I find either valid and worthy of consideration, or just plain convincing.  It's a very complicated issue for me.  The best I could come up with when thinking about what I would do if given the power to make laws for all would be to leave it as local as possible.

So my position right now is YES, keep it legal, but let each State decide for itself what the cut-offs are.

I think it should be legal, everyone should have the choice. I think I'm the only pro life person who believes in the freedom to choose but so be it. If I was put in a position where my child would grow up in pain or their life would be impacted severely by something I would want to be able to choose which way to go, and it would probably kill me to choose to abort but if it was the right thing to do then I would do it.

I'm unsure on the cutoffs...the 20 week thing is too soon, by that point you have so little time to decide, it's right around the time when you get an ultrasound for the heart and other organs and lots of women discover their babies have awful heart problems that would have their children on ventilators or worse. That gives you like 4 days to decide when the doctor is all said and done if you can get in in a timely manner...

So I think it should be a suggested thing, not enforced. More like a moral guideline.

That was a nice, short article.  Thanks.

I think in the end, the fence-tipping reason I go with keep it legal but locally decided, is because I find it more disturbing to live in a society where it would be illegal, with Government getting that involved in that type of personal experience ... than a society where it is frowned upon but legal and regulated.

There is no happy dance side on this topic for me, just a compromise I can live with.

If I had the power to decide for everyone what the law would be I wouldn't feel comfortable making it illegal for everyone.

Of all the concerns, government intervention is the least in my head. I'd be more worried about women trying to force it on themselves and ending up dead or with sepsis like before it was legal in the first place.
