Do you beleive we are not alone? or you think is Bananas?  :D Have you had any extraterrestrial encounter or have seen anything not usual in the sky?
I would love to know your opinions, beliefs and experiences about this topic. Do you think is against spirituality or religion? Share with us! I personally cannot believe we are alone in this universe. I think there are many many things that have not been fully explained neither by science nor by religion. People around the world have seen strange objects in the sky, others said they have been abducted by aliens, others said they actually have connections with beings from another planet 8-) I once experienced something very weird and that was never explained and was actually totally blocked for media to expose on TV or Internet :X
So let the Debate starts!  :)

I like to go back to Terry Pratchett's idea of "first sight and second thoughts", which he probably describes best in the Tiffany Aching series.

We experience a thing, could be levitation and flashing lights, the acquaintance of mysterious figures, and we know that we're not asleep...but, because we aren't usually comfortable with saying, "That just happened and I have neither the evidence nor the paths of reasoning to conclude what's what..." Most of us will add, "I'll go with what I like."

In medieval Europe, such an experience could have been attributed to fairies or witches, because people back then tended to have more rural or wilderness incorporated into their lives.

Nowadays, we look to the stars again with our technology and space ships, and so an experience like that, we say it came from aliens from outer space who have advanced technology.

It could very well be something entirely else.

Ah well, as large as our universe, it doesn't seem improbable at all that there may be other life forms out there. But what we don't know is how close these aliens are to us, their ways of living, how life forms have evolved in their planet, if humans ever did see them, and so on.

Surely in our ever- expanding universe there must be other life forms in some part or the other

Thanks for your comments...  :)

I wanted to add that one of the theories from the people who investigate about UFOs and Aliens, is that many of the stories from the Bible are just a result of what they thought it was or what they wanted to see at that time, based on their beliefs and culture. They explain that when they mentioned fire coming from the skies, it could have been their perception of a spaceship; or when they mentioned angels full of light could have been instead an extraterrestrial being.

This turns the topic sensitive because they actually think that Beings from another planet and or universe have been visiting our planet since forever, even that we could be descendants of any of this beings who once visit the earth and left something behind.

Then what happened with the story/believe that God created men and women? ...

I think I have seen way too many Aliens Documentaries 8-)

I don't think Ancient Aliens can qualify as a documentary in the most alien planet even.
They(the guys from this show) may see an egg on the wall, will and go, "Ooohh, Aliens!"

I believe that its unlikely that we are alone in this vast universe, there have been planets just like ours found recently but due to it being so far away we can only see it billions of years ago, its very possible that those planets have life just like ours, I feel it wouldn't be right if we were alone

Though I've read a lot of books that have made me a huge skeptic on the subject, I do believe that there's extraterrestrial life out there.

My main influence is Carl Sagan who, despite seeing hoax after hoax throughout his lifetime, held the belief that it's impossible for us to be alone in such a large universe.

It could very well be something entirely else.

That thought terrifies me more than the thought that aliens exist!!

I had a rather weird experience recently. I woke up and I couldn't see the colour red. It was whitewashed for me....it started making me think...we can't see so many colours. There's a colour that's red-green and blue-yellow and we can't even see those. So what if they're already here and we can't see them? What if they aren't even physical beings like we are?! Or what if they are made of something we can't feel, smell, taste, or touch, as well as see? There's plenty of examples of substances on earth we can put out hands on and the substance is repelled from it (so we don't feel it) so why not what they are made of?

On an update to his Cosmos documentary, he did say that it was worth exploring...more worthy, that is, as a science, than using science to just will each other in war. He was a wise man, not just a smart one.  :)

It's very Lovecraftian. His Call of Cthulu talked about this otherworldly dimension in the sea where there were shapes that you could recognize as buildings, but the geometry was all wrong and made your head hurt to look at it.

Beings that exist, so to speak, beyond the corner of our eye...is possible, but until they start causing trouble then there's no need to be or no use being terrified...yet... ;)

I believe that there are definitely other planets that are inhabited. We still don't even know how big the universe actually is, although with new and better equipment, we can learn more and more about it every year.
I think that some of the things that we see and think are UFO's are actually hi-tech military planes, or other equipment that is still top secret. However, i think that it is entirely possible that some of the unexplained things that people see could come from somewhere else.

As to what these aliens would look like, there seems to be a large amount of ideas on that, and reports from people who believe they have seen one.
I personally think that we could have some living right here on earth with us, and we can't tell the difference.
The idea of aliens is actually not so far-fetched from the religious beliefs of many people, and what is in our Bible, and other sacred books. Most of them tell about men who seemed to just appear (called angels), and sometimes just disappeared back up into the sky.
Also, some of the strange descriptions that the men of God saw and wrote about, seem to describe objects that could be described as a space ship.
Even the ancient Egyptian pictures and writing seem to show possible aliens and spaceships.

I've never seen very good evidence to suggest that earth has any contact with aliens. However, considering earth is full of creatures, and that we've got a team going to mars to colonize it, I don't see why there wouldn't be anything out there. I mean, our solar system alone has two hospitable planets (well, maybe one and a half), and thinking about how big our universe is, I see no reason that there wouldn't be life somewhere.

Sure, we can't prove that there's any life out there, but the chances that there aren't are way too small.

Benster, there is a lot of evidence of extra-terrestrials being here on the earth; you just have to be open-minded and willing to search, and then read.
One of the earlier books on the subject was called "Chariots of the Gods", and it was written quite a few years ago, but has some very good pictures and interesting information about some of the places where ancient civilizations existed, and where the pyramids were often built.
There are also some good videos on youtube, and they have great pictures of some of the historical sites that we still don't understand how they were made.
I like to watch some of the ones that are on UFO television on youtube, but i am sure that there are other great books and videos if you are interested in looking for them.

After being in the Jungle for 9 days: away from internet, celphone and laptop; feels amazing to see so many responses to this topic!

Thank you for all your comments and opinion--I have read them all and love the fact that we can actually discuss about this, also I got new books and sites where I can continue to read and or watch about this interesting topic.

As many have said, it is hard to believe that we are the only beings in this Universe...no mention all the things that still have no explanation on how, when. where etc...  8-)

Again thank you !  :D

I've seen some documentaries about the possibility of earlier civilizations having come in contact with aliens. I've never seen enough evidence to convince me though. A lot of the evidence presented could all have been explained by something else. I may go check out that book however, I do find this sort of thing quite interesting whether or not I believe everything I hear.

For anyone who is interested, here is a link to a youtube video that has some awesome pictures of the things that Erich von Daniken wrote about in his original "Chariots of the Gods" book.
There are some very interesting discoveries that are hard to explain away as just things done by ancient civilizations.
This is something that totally interests me, as well; and searching out ideas of how mankind developed, and if there was help from extra-terrestials , is something that I really enjoy doing.
