All right people, I haven't been writing! why? because the motivation isn't there anymore! I need and want to start writing again! How am I supposed to become a published author if I can't write!?!?

But to complain is not why I'm posting this. I need something! anything! to get me writing again, a prompt, it doesn't have to be amazing, I'll settle for good as long as it's able to keep me writing. I wrote a poem two days ago and it sucked ass!! I don't normally think when I write! I just let the thoughts flow as I go along, I had to think! about what I was writing!! Which doesn't help! My writing process doesn't work that way! if I'm going to write, shit just has to come to me.

With that being said does anyone have any suggestions???

Hey Ellie!!! :D

Well we have a Writing Games, Prompts, & Challenges board full of...well exactly what it says.

So it depends what sort of prompt you want. We have tonnes of games in the board, especially on page two, which are spammy sort of reply when you want to and keep it going sort of games, and we have picture and regular challenges.

Some Challenges:

Anyway there's a good list, there's more in the board too :D. If that doesnt help I can try a different approach.

Also, here's a funny:

Hi Ellie,

what I do usually when I can't think of anything to write I ask a friend to give me a subject and then I start writing about what ever subject they gave me. While composing that poem I might get ideas on what to write my next poem and what not. I think that sometimes getting people to help give you an idea on what to write your poem about can not only give you motivation but also give you ideas for new poems.

Hope this helps!

This happens to me all the time! All the time.

You have two options:

1) take a break. Take some time off. Just don't write for awhile. Instead, read read read read read! Do research into a subject that interests you. Do other things that you like and things that support your writing. Try listening to these podcasts (free on iTunes): I Should Be Writing and Writing Excuses.

2) force yourself to write. Sit down and write whatever comes into your head at all for 10 minutes. It doesn't need to make sense. Just don't stop writing!

Good luck!

Ok...Here way go! Grab your morning coffee. Drink it slowly while letting your thoughts race. It does not matter what you are thinking about. Do not focus on any one thought. Keep sipping your coffee. Do not answer the phone. Do not turn on the t.v. Do not let anything distract you from your mental focus. After 20 minutes of filling your mind with flowing thought, a few things should have jumped out at you. Start writing them down on paper. Even if you feel like it may not be the topic that you are really interested in writing at the moment. Each different topic should be written on a separate piece of paper. If you can not think of much to say, a few lines works. You can always come back to that specific topic later or on another day. I am always on the move. My brain is always going, but that does not mean I am perfect and do not experience brain blanks once in a while. Doing this method helps me to always have something to write. You will have an abundance of topics to choose from. I know I do. You will have an entire book ready to be published after a week lol. Just stay focused. You can always watch motivational videos on YouTube or Google motivational poems. You should be fine. You have "IT" in you. Just dig deep and pull it out. Good Luck with your writing.

I used to write everyday before. Do you know what urged me to start writing again? I got inspired.

Inspiration was the main reason why I start writing again. I was inspired to have my work posted on my blog. It's excited to see my own written words online.

Find what inspires you, and once you do, you won't be able to stop writing.

I hope my advice helped!

I usually try and do something I really don't want to do, so that I can't wait to come back to writing. Like cleaning out the fridge or scrubbing the toilets. Its strange I know- but its worked for me. I come back strong! The words are flying out of me at a record pace and my fingers can barely keep up!

Inspiration is my main motivation. For me, I need to remember what inspires me, and that automatically forces me to get all of my thoughts and emotions on paper or on my blog. It's natural. When I think of the reasons why I want to be a writer in the first place and I think about what inspires me to be a writer, that's when I write.

I hope I helped!

I think every writer goes through this, I had not written a poem in over three years. I was having one of the worse days of my life and a poem came to me and they kept coming. With my screenplays I rarely have writers block because I write the whole script in my mind before I type it up. I've never had to look for inspiration, it just comes and sometimes it's the most simple things. If this is something that worries you try not to stress to much, one day when you're not thing to much about it that is when that great idea for a novel will come out of nowhere. Trust me you're fine.
