So I just listened to the Audiobook for the last 6 hours and I must say I actually really enjoyed it. I'm not into the whole zombie genre really, but this "collection of stories" was more than that. It obviously mentioned them a bit but it was more focused on the "human element" (aka the characters).

I really liked that. I wasn't bombarded with zombie this and that, I was told how people survived being in that situation, how they came out of it alive. I loved it.

Anyone else?

Like you, I'm not into the zombie genre, either, but I like World War Z. Both movie and book. It's unlike all those other zombie movies and shows, where the characters are shooting zombies every damn time.

***WORLD WAR Z MOVIE SPOILERS AHEAD***

The movie isn't scary. It has next to nothing to do with the book, either, so I would really just watch it and take it as its own separate thing with a coincidentally similar title.

It's mostly Brad Pitt running and jogging.

I do like the way that the World War Z movie zombies turned out to operate, like they were under the 28 Days Later rage virus only more organized, and there were "hacks" to the virus that they had to figure out.

And I also like the way that, in the book, it was treated like a mystery, like, "Wait, why don't the dead bodies stop being able to move with the deep-ocean water pressure and after being frozen solid? That's not physically possible." And that patient zero might have been the victim of some small but wrathful god in the relics of a temple, but of course nobody would really know because it's all a mystery in the social and political upheaval.

And the K-9 unit. I loved the chapter on the K-9 unit.

They're both completely different stories, but I think they held their own pretty well in their own respects. Of course the book has more detail. And, whereas in the book, the journalist goes, "If there is any human element removed, let it be my own", in the movie he's...well, he's Brad Pitt, the star and the main character and it's his hero's journey and he has motivations and the genre is survivial... It's more like "Eat, Pray , Love" except with blackmail and life-threatening hordes of cannibals. Completely different.

World War Z must have made an awesome audio book, though! I'll definitely have to check that out.

Well, I have heard of the movie...didn't know it was a book. Audiobooks don't do much for me as I am a deafie so makes the whole audio thing a moot point.  XD

All I know is that the movie bombed in the box office. I don't get into zombie anything so I probably won't read the book either.  Until I saw the tread I didn't even know the premise of the story was about zombies taking over the world or some such thing.

What is the big lure of the whole zombie thing anyway? Never could see the appeal meself.

I was afraid it would be shite ha ha. I watched it and I love it! :D

I LOVED the zombies, they were freaking awesome, they just fucking smashed their heads on glass, anything to get into a vehicle. It was beautiful.

And with that, I discovered why I hate zombie movies. They're a joke. This one is the best one I've ever seen lol.

Also if you "read" the book go audiobook. And do it with the different voices for each person interviewed. Sorry about being deaf, that sucks a little on this front :(.

I am seriously NOT into anything Zombie. I also had hard of the movie, and I thought it was some kind of a war movie, and I don't like those either.  So, either way, I am sure that i won't be either watching it or reading it.
I do like movies, but I like ones with twisty-turny plots, and you have to watch it two or three times sometimes before you actually get the whole story.
One of my most favorite movies of all time is "Frequency", starring Dennis Quaid. It has a plot tat just changes with every new scene, and has all the elements that make a movie great for me. There is great family interaction, suspense, and even a kind of Time Travel. I love time travel books and movies !
It seems like most of thee new movies that have come out recently are about zombies, or something similar, like the vampires or werewolves kind of movies.
I used to go to all of the creepy shows back when I was a teenager, but now, I have just lost interest in those kind of shows, and like something that is going to have a happy ending, and not going to be gruesome.

HFL I would HIGHLY recommend you watch it because it's about the people not the war. It's like you're flying over it. I loved it and like you I hate all things war/zombie ha ha. Also I love movies that really make you think :D.

About Bunny
Jade Elizabeth is an eccentric young woman who enjoys writing stories and poems with hidden deeper meanings. She is quoted saying “Writing to me is not a hobby. It's a passion. It's something that lets my thoughts expose themselves, and my heart shine through where other art could not.

Commonly her poems are inspired by love or depression, and are dedicated to the people who encouraged the emotion. Given the chance she will readily pull her poems apart, exposing the deeper and hidden meanings behind her words.

Her stories are usually unspoken messages to those close to her – giving every story a hidden meaning. Some things are better left unsaid, or in her case, expressed indirectly through stories.

Jade used to write Documentation for Simple Machines in her free time, but has since begun studying and working, which takes up most of her free time now.
