You didn't like the way I talked
or how I walked...I can only be me
You say I'm too short, too skinny, too big,
too dark...but I can only be me

You criticized my clothes &made fun of my hair
Well I can only be me
My skin was flawed with acne scars & open pores
Oily & shiny...I can only be me

You never cared if I did get good grades,played fair
or received certificates of achievements
I can only be me

I never received genuine love or even hugs
I was never good enough,pretty enough, or smart enough
I can only be me

Then one day I realized, I will never get your approval
No matter what I gave
I can only be me

You were the one with the problem
Not capable of being of happy
So you tried to tear me down
Cause I was just being me

I'm an emotional mess, very sensitive by default. I am intuitive to
the energy of others. It can be a gift and a curse at the same time. I'm a loner,sometimes by choice. I have very few close & loyal friends. I just recently started writing again,after almost 10 years of suffering and silence. I suffer from anxiety and depression. Its taken over my life & so I'm using poetry as an outlet to heal and release this never ending cycle of mental & emotional pain.
