Hi.

As writers, we are challenged to be creative in designing our scenes. However, we also need to make sure they are still realistic. So, how can we balance these two requirements? How can we be creative and imaginative without crossing the line of making it look fake?

What works the best for me is envisioning myself in my characters place. Sometimes it helps to close my eyes and just visualize everything and then the words start flowing. If I don't have experience with a scene sometimes I ask my friends to describe it if they have. It helps. I also try to avoid over-detailing something, leaving a little to the readers imagination is good.
