I smiled back in my cell. That’s the way Mel and I were: 99% love, 1% hate. I pressed out a heavy sigh out of me. I missed Mel. If she was here this experience would a bit more tolerable. We would have made the most out of the situation. Just like the good old days.

The clanking of the eight bolts brought me back to reality. A soldier opened the door. The steady clanking of metal-toed boots sounded the entrance of Supreme Commander Malaki Bold.
“Good afternoon Commander,” the deep reverberating voice made my throat tighten, even though he was talking at a conversational volume. He seemed to surge through the room, even though he was walking a leisurely pace further into my cell. And when he came close enough to look me in the eye, the hair on the back of my neck stood up tall, even though so far he had done nothing.
His dark brown eyes analyzed me: judging my strengths, noticing my weaknesses. Right now I'm sure he saw a lot of weaknesses.
“No doubt you’re surprised to see me.” He continued. “ I trust the warden informed you of today’s significance.”
“Yes.” Was all I could utter.
  “Yes what?” he asked expectantly.
  “Yes sir.”
“I hope you’ve had enough time to think about your crimes. . .”
  “Sir I . . .”
That was as far as I got before his huge callused hand slammed across my face. This was nothing like the guards strike from earlier. I had to bite my tongue to keep a sob from escaping. When I was sure I wasn’t going to cry I looked into his eyes.
“Speak when spoken to, traitor.” He growled. I answered with absolute silence.
“As I was saying, I hope you have had enough to reflect on your crimes. And more importantly I hope you are ready to set things straight. Are you?”
“It depends on what is needed to ‘set things straight’ ” I responded. His brows furrowed.
“You’re answer worries me. I would hate to have to intensify you’re imprisonment. Its simple: You tell me where you sent him and I will have you released.”
I dropped my head. I couldn’t tell him. I had sacrificed too much already to just give in now.
“Commander Bold!” He snapped. I looked back into his eyes.   “Where did you hide Prince Castill?”
"I'm sorry sir. I will never tell you or anyone who reports to you."
His jaw locked, he clenched his fists, and a low growl emitted from his throat.
"Guards, leave us." he growled. They instantly filed/fled out of the cell. Even though that only left the Supreme Commander and I, I felt as though the room was stuffier than it had been before.
When all the guards were gone the Supreme Commander looked up at me and spoke. "Bree, I am going to ask you one more time: Where is Prince Castill?"
"I'm not going to tell you."
He grabbed me tightly by the thoat.
"Don't do this! We've worked too hard for you to just throw it all away for some boy. All those years of excersises, training and tests, will be wasted. Neither of us wants that. Just tell me where he is."
"No," I breathed, knowing that it had a high chance of being my last breath. Instead of unleashing his wrath on me like I expected, he released me and stepped back a few feet.
"You know Bree, I may not know where he is, but I do know this: no matter how many planets I conquer, no matter how many people I threaten, I will never be aking and you will never be a princess. He was raised in an uptight monarchy. He's going to marry a princess. You threw everything away for him, but he already knows he is going to end up with someone else. You don't owe him anything, Bree! But you do owe yourself what is best for you."

I remained silent. His words stung like bee stings . . . and he knew it. My father did a lot of things, lieing wasn't one of them. Castill was a prince, which meant that yes; eventually he would have to marry a woman of royal blood. My family was respected and feared throughout the galaxy, but in the end, we were not royalty. Not that I had plans to marry Castill anyway. . . not real plans anyway. But all of this still didn't affect the way I felt about him, and I couldn't let Malaki kill him!
"Bree? Just tell me where to start, a clue. I'll get the rest done from there." He continued to persuade. "Don't you want to see your mother again? and your brother Jaden? what about your friend Mel? You have plenty of friends. Surely this one boy isn't worth not seeing everyone else you know."
"No. Why don't you just leave him alone? King Felipe is the one you're after, not Castill. He's innocent."
"I intend to deal with the king. You don't have to worry about that," he smiled slyly, "Now tell me where the prince is?" he demanded.
  "No."
His eyes narrowed to slits, and his mandible ground into his head. All I saw was the flash of his hand reaching for his firearm, then a faster flash of the firearm towards me. My world went black before my mind could even decipher what happened.
