Definitely Stephen King all the way - Dreamcatcher did for me too
I made the mistake of reading it (at the age of about 19) when my family was away on holiday. In the house, on my own, in the dark... Big mistake. I had to stay up until about 1:30am to finish reading it because I knew I'd have nightmares if I tried to sleep before it was resolved.
I was so disappointed with the film of it, though. I don't watch horror films so much any more but at the time I was really into them and I thought if the book was so terrifying, then the film was guaranteed to be a good thrill, but they messed it around so much
